WC; Wine and Charcuterie // Clapham Common

Somewhere deep beneath Clapham Common tube lies South London’s chicest new wine and cheese spot, but wait for it, the premises for said bar? The local loo! DSCN0307NEW

WC is what Clapham’s been seriously lacking in my opinion.

Yes, Clapham has the transport links, the common, the swathes of twenty something’s donning their suits and grabbing their skinny lattes, but for some ridiculous reason the only alcoholic options at the moment reside as 2 for 1 at Be at One. No thanks!

As a Clapham worker, I’ve been desperately craving a decent glass of vino apres travail for some time now. I just wasn’t expecting to find it in the loo…

The team form Matches Fashion and I took a trip sub-terrain last friday, to suss out the new wine options, and found our new Clapham haven. Exposed brick walls, candles and bar stools galore. they’ve even kept the original toilet booths and urinal detailing. Setting 2014’s interior trend perhaps? Not sure how I could pull it off in my pokey Shoreditch flat!

We savoured some beautifully crisp white wine and indulged in a gorgeous brie, olive and pepper mezze, before being papped by the Evening Standard for an upcoming article. So keep your eyes peeled commuters!

Definitely worth a trip South of the river, even if it is to sit on the bog!
