Spirulina Superfood Smoothie Bowl

I tend to obsessively ram as many superfoods into my breakfast as possible, it’s become something of an addiction! Breakfast doesn’t seem quite complete unless it contains a selection of wheatgrass, chia seeds, flaxseeds, bee pollen, spirulina, cacao…this list goes on.

Thats why smoothie bowls are such a perfect thing to wake up to. Stick it all in a blender, and bam! You can wake up to a superfood, cocktail concoction every morning.IMG_7100NEW

Spirulina is perhaps my favourite of all the mighty superfoods. It’s so nutrient dense, a half teaspoon a day contains all your essential vitamins and minerals. It’s also made up of 60% protein, compared to beef which is only 25%, meaning it’s a perfect addiction to a veggie or vegan diet. Oh, and lets not forget the lovely turquoise colour, anything that is naturally so bright has got to do wonders for your body!

Ingredients;
1 banana
1/2 avocado
2 sticks celery
1/2 cup coconut water
1 apple
1 teaspoon spirulina

Simply throw all the ingredients into a food processor and mix until smooth. Top with any of your favourite superfoods! I used a 1/2 teaspoon of bee pollen and 1 teaspoon of chia seeds.

Enjoy!
